Sit on Eternity

The Statue of Infinity, created by Richard X. Zawitz, is displayed in the lobby of the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong. It is “infintely configurable by the artist through a patented connecting system. New shapes can be created to blend with the environment through systematic changes.” Zawitz’s inspiration for the work is the Tibetan knot of infinity (or knot of eternity), one of the eight auspicious symbols. The knot represents the truth that the entanglement of samsara is ultimately none other than the liberation of nirvana. And now you can sit on that truth (if you have a lot of money that is).

Zawitz has has teamed up with Pierandrei Associati, Technodelta Srl of Milano, and Baci & Abbracci to co-produce and launch a unique line of sculpture-based furniture and an innovative lighting system based on his Infinity Art:

Crossing over into the world of interior design was a natural progression for Zawitz unique pieces that are based on the Tibetan infinite knot, containing a pattern of interwoven lines with no beginning and no end that symbolizes infinite life and creation. It was this symbol that captivated and inspired him artistically and ultimately bore the creation of one of Zawitz’s major works: the Statue of Infinity.
As part of this new Infinity collection: Art, Sky and Sun (two armchairs and a lighting system)are the first results of combining the ‘knot’ of stainless steel sections linked together in a seamless pattern that represents “continuous, potentially endless modularity.”
